| Weight: 728.0 grams, BCS: 3.5 S: Standing in box, struggled in hand O: After initial rads cleaned ventral aspect of left elbow and found no significant wound just a lot of bruising and edema. Got okay from AD to anesthetize via Isoflurine - intubated with 3.5 ET tube (was stable throughout but breathing rapidly and shallow). Was able to better manipulate luxation and pop the radius back into place and thought I got the ulna too but was having difficulty getting it to stay while placing a figure 8 wrap, repeated rads while waking up from anesthesia while wing was wrapped - both bones look in better position but swelling of elbow make it hard to determine if the placement is indeed correct. Performed laser therapy on edema/swelling setting over wrap, gave meds and fluids then put in cage in ICU ------------- PHYSICAL EXAM FINDINGS ---------------- Mentation: QAR Temp (F): 102.7 Dehydration (%): 5 Heart rate: 300+ Resp rate: 60 Neurologic: Quiet for species Head/mouth/beak: WNL Ears: WNL Eyes: WNL Wings: L eblow very swollen and edemadous, luxated Legs: WNL Feet: WNL Body: WNL Feather condition: WNL - 1 adult tail feather Ectoparasites: none noted Radiographic findings: L elbow both radius and ulna luxated with signficant soft tissue swelling/trauma Initial treatment: 0.15cc Torb IM, 0.12cc Simbadol IM, 30cc LRS SQ in right inguinal area, 0.49cc Meloxicam PO, 0.32cc Terbinafine PO, 0.61cc TMS PO, 0.22cc Pentoxifylline PO. A: Juvenile tundra peregrine falcon (winter migrant) found in the city, unknown cause of trauma but suspect HBC. Sustained left elbow luxation of both radius and ulna with significant swelling, bruising, and edema over left elbow. Attempted to reset luxation but with swelling it is hard to tell if placement is correct and will likely need to try again after swelling has reduced. Has a pretty poor prognosis but going to give it a chance as the trauma is new and bird is in good body condition with no other injury. P: Rx Meloxicam, gabapentin, terbinafine, pentoxifylline, TMS, Tramadol after 24hrs, fluids. Vet check tomorrow, collect blood and fecal. Laser therapy. If swelling decreased in elbow may anesthetize again and try to set luxation better and place new wrap. IOP study Friday. Monitor figure 8 wrap - only change if necessary
